Ofsted Registered Childminder in Shipdham, Norfolk
My name is Kirsty Dennett, I am married to Carl Dennett who is an Electrician, we have two young daughters who both attend a local village school, I also have two fabulous teenage step children.
We live in a detached house with plenty of parking - right in the centre of Shipdham which means we are well within walking distance of Thomas Bullock Primary Academy and Shipdham Playgroup.
We currently do the school and preschool runs a minimum of twice a day Monday – Wednesday, however we have the facility to do the school runs every day when required. We run a car to Yaxham School for drop off and collections too.
I am a Forest Childcare Provider which means I operate to the following guidelines:
I take the children in my care to an outdoor environment normally once a week.
Forest Childcare outings are made as safe as is reasonably possible, while encouraging children to take their own risks.
Forest Childcare outings are taken all year long, so children go outside whatever the weather.
I offer a mixture of planned and child-led play activities.
I am first aid certified.
Our aim is to provide parents with high quality and committed childcare which is flexible and convenient. Although we are strict on manners and respect to others, it is imperative your child has fun whilst with us in a relaxed atmosphere.
The children have access to my lounge for playtime and the kitchen for meal times, baking sessions and crafts. Our garden has been adapted to ensure the children are safe and allows free flow - there is a fenced area which allows the children to play independently whilst being supervised and prevents the children accessing the rest of the garden which contains a trampoline (my insurance will not cover your child to use our trampoline or climbing frame but I am happy to let them if I have a signed consent form from parents), and many raised flower beds. Just outside the fencing is our bird feeder, we have binoculars and a bird identification book on hand to help us recognise what birds are visiting.
I plan activities to match the age and developmental stage of the children, ensuring their educational needs are being met as set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Our food is home cooked, using vegetables from a local company; meat from Parish Butchers and fish from Bunnings, we follow a 2 week rotational menu.
As a family we enjoy being outside, whether that is at High Lodge, boating on the Norfolk Broads or camping at Land Rover Events – we enjoy being together and making the most of the weather!
